Launched a project to protect bears: the first protection program

Today, the first “Protection Program” has been launched — a project to protect bears. The situation there is actually very strange and serious, but so far there are no solutions. We will think and develop mechanisms to influence the problem. It turns out that in recent years the number of issued quotas for shooting bears across the country has increased many times over, and in 2026 decrees were signed to issue more than 45,000 quotas. This is despite the fact that earlier the Prosecutor General’s Office and the FSB reported the catastrophic extermination of bears and even asked the Government to include them in the Red Book.

Unfortunately, I see a great deal of aggression toward bears in society, real hatred. People really do call for them to be dealt with. And if society is indifferent to the bear, then the management system is even more so. Hence the difficulties with dialogue.

In our project, we have presented scientific studies and all the necessary justifications, and prepared a document with an appeal to the Government. Now we will study an additional body of data and resolutions, collect available scientific research from around the world, consolidate it, and conduct our own analysis. The work will be carried out constantly and systematically, as far as our strength and time allow.

At the same time, we are preparing the next “Protection Programs” in other areas. I think it is also necessary to systematically seek protection for the animals’ food base, a ban on logging natural forest ecosystems untouched by humans, and to carefully analyze and launch work to protect other animal species that no one wants to protect, including tigers and wolves.

Gradually, a block of local public initiatives should be built around the TПЭС Concept — initiatives whose resolution is needed right now — as well as expanded projects aimed at solving entire clusters of related and interconnected problems.

How can I manage to work on my books and the expeditionary research work that we have already started? But since we have taken this on, we must do it. Let’s keep moving.

If we do not have time for something, we will change our approaches and adapt the projects. But the main thing is to continue our shared Mission in the struggle for Life!
